From the pen of John Wenham:
It is with God as a Person, as the supreme Person that we have to do. It is thus a serious departure from the truth to regard God as the Creator of a semi-chaos. God’s world is a cosmos, every particle of which of which he sustains and controls. Again it is a serious departure from the truth to regard judgment as impersonal. It is uncomfortable to sinful people to live continually under the all-seeing eye of the all-knowing Judge. Therefore Christians have been tempted to soft-pedal the theme of judgment. The theme of hell has been quietly omitted, the wrath of God is not immediately and personally involved. But it is because wrath is personal that mercy is personal.*
Soli Deo Gloria!
